A Great Classic
Bought this for my 4 year old daughter and she loves it. I feel like the older one from years ago was definitely bigger, but that’s not important to a child as the new size is much more compact which makes storage easier also. My only real complaint is that while it does light up well enough, you need to be in a dark or reasonably dark room to even know the light is on, and it doesn’t seem to light the whole “picture” evenly. Knowing that this makes no difference for a small child, I would say that it’s an excellent purchase, especially at the price point. Would recommend for anyone trying to share childhood experiences with their own children.

Cool gift for your kiddos
I really cool toy that keeps my four year old entertainment for hours. It is easy to assembly and kids can bring them with them anywhere. Also, it shines in the darkness while you put some AA batteries.

Great vintage item. Excellent hobby. Comes with stencil to plug lights. Has option for steady light, flashing and random lights around screen on and off. Also has timer to automatically power off after maybe five minutes.

Wish I could find the original, this screen is much smaller and the light isn’t nearly as bright. It’s nice to not plug it in but that’s the only new upside. But it’s still great and fun to play with something I loved as a kid too.

It satisfied my nostalgic itch
Alas, it didn’t quite live up to my full expectations. The whole thing is a lot smaller than I remembered, and feels kind of cheap. The pegs used to be pointy, but these ones are flat, so it’s very hard to poke them through the paper (which is thicker than the original paper). It ended up hurting my fingers quite a bit. The light was plenty bright once I turned it on, but it was patchy, not illuminating the picture evenly, and the different light modes were unimpressive. I was also short of a couple pegs, and couldn’t complete the picture as designed.That said, the actual *doing* of the picture was fairly meditative and satisfying. It definitely brought me back to my childhood, which was the reason that I bought it. So although it wasn’t quite the experience I was expecting, I am glad I bought it.
